Im new on this forum but I thought Id say hello.
Im in my mid-50s and taking up foraging. As I mentioned in another thread I received 2 Samuel Thayer books last night in the mail. Boy, are they ever beautifully done.
When I was a kid my dad and I would go hunting and fishing a lot. I remember him showing me wild plants to eat; blackberries, morels, gooseberries, poke, hickory nuts, hazel nuts, walnuts, pawpaws, persimmons, watercress, and Im sure others. So Im familiar with several wild foods but not nearly as many as I would like.
I own some land and have access to quite a bit more so I have an area to hone my foraging skill.
As Samuel Thayer says, "Foraging is the ultimate survival skill." I agree with him and want to improve my skill.
