Re: Left 4 Dead 2 Officially Hitting Linux And Updates For All Platforms

ill be watching how this developes.

the linux community has always argued that the reason linux of the desktop is stuggling to take off is the big companies arnt supporting development on that platform.
now valve is, AND will be offering a delivery platform?
maybe, just maybe things will change.

Also, Judos to uBuntu, they seem to have suceeded where the vast majority of dist's havent.

The reason ubuntu took off because they said sod it to all the free software bull**** and the fiefdoms surrounding it and made a good operating system build on solid principles that hid the underlying complexity of the system. i even have a 70 year old customer running it with no problems.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 Officially Hitting Linux And Updates For All Platforms

it also seems to be the popular free os option on a lot of notebooks and netbooks sold by manufacturers.
I remember when I got my dell mini a few years ago that I had the option between ubuntu or windows preinstalled, opted for ubuntu as it shaved quite a chunk of cash off the end price, and for what you generally use a netbook for, ubuntu is more than adequate.
