PC for parents

Been told to spec and build one for em, asked price told just get a good one, very vauge, wanted internet office stuff and able to play games ect and last a good few years, quick look on Scan and got this lot together.
Seems a bit overkill now but should last and possibly have some sort of upgrade path in the future.
Have I missed anything silly?

Re: PC for parents

Wish Scan did value memory rather than just performance stuff.

No point getting value ram when you specing up a pc like that it prob wont be much cheaper and my experience's with value ram arnt good.

Id also personally look at changing the graphics card to a 4870.

Its slightly more money but I think it would be worth it for the little it would cost.

Would this not in turn mean that the PSU needed to be uprated to something with a bit more backbone to it as well?

Yea, 4870 is far to power hungry and loud for this machine, its only running a 17" screen so 4770 will be fine.

Shouldn't think so.

I built a machine recently with one and that's only got a coolermaster 400w and that's running perfectly fine.

The spec on there site says 450w but there prob being a bit cautious and if you have a decent make rather then one of those cheapo ones thrown into a case for free I don't see there being a problem.

Fair enough it was just a thought.

Re: PC for parents

I just want to say that when I saw the thread title my first thought was that this was some kind of weird swap
