Anyone read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King?

Has anyone read The Wolves of Calla yet? Or The Song of Susannah? The hard backs are available, but i feel a little agrieved at having to pay £18 each for the buggers. The paper back of the Wolves of Calla is out next January tho! Dunno if i can wait that long...

If anyone has read the new book(s), please post sum feedback, and let me know if it was worth the cash.

If u havnt read any of The Dark Tower series, i STRONGLY recommend them. They r not ur typical Stephen King fare at all, and the cross overs into a few other books he has written are pretty cool. If u have read The Stand, u'll recognise one or two of the characters in this series. Im not a massive king fan at all, only really liked The Stand and The Shining (Firestarter was pretty cool too). IT was a bit off the wall for me, and I have yet to read Insomnia, which aparently has a character from The Dark Tower series in it as well. Im a bit confused as i have seen the film Insomnia with Al Pachino and Robin Williams in it, so i assume that it wasnt a film of the book, just a random coincidence. Anyone know?

Anyways, take a quick look here, pretty sweet site ol' Stevie-boy's got

As far as I know the film with Pacino in it isn't related to the King book at all. The King book "Insomnia" is about an oap who never sleeps and eventually he starts to see things that other people cannot see. Its a good book actually; King did bring out a couple of duffers at one point (Dolores Claiborne comes to mind).
The Tower saga has always intrigued me (been reading King books since about 1990) but I never invested; like you say they're not the usual King-style stuff. I may give one a try.

I started off by reading Wizard and Glass, the 4th book. Im only just finishing The Gunslinger now, but having read them in a skewiff order, u never feel lost in the plot no matter which book u start on. Im impressed by The Dark Tower series.
