Thumbs up Stephen King

well, I started reading the collection of Stephen King, The Dark Tower. I read the first and second books, and they were pretty amazing! It's a crazy history, a really good one. Recommend!

Got to agree I got really into the first few books of this series, when I read them back in the late 1990s. Read through the first three as quickly as possible, but I must say that I found the fourth one (Wizard and Glass, I think?) pretty difficult to get into with the stuff that went on (won't spoil it, but it just didn't really grip me). I ended up finishing it, but at that stage the final 3 books weren't published and from what I've heard they get a bit crazy. Would you suggest that I track them down and finish off the series?

(Welcome to the forums, by the way!)

Re: Stephen King

Im actually reading the Dark Tower series at the moment, on the third book and loving them all so far, very good storyline, complex, and very very deep characters, possibly some of the best writing ive ever read.

Theres a series of movies also being produced at the moment by the creators of Lost, rather worried about them to be honest though as i cant imagine an onscreen version doing the characters justice http://www.gunslingermovies.com/

well... I haven't started on the third book yet, so I can't tell yet if things are going to get crazy in the series. But give it a try!

Re: Stephen King

I own most of his books but have only read a handful, need to do a LOT of catching up. Currently around two thirds of the way through The Stand and it's constantly climbing up my list of favourite books. Really love his writing.
