Re: Microsoft offers computer users choice of browsers

Yep - it's real. It a part of whatever deal Microsoft have made to keep their "anti-competitive" ways in order. Or something.

Re: Microsoft offers computer users choice of browsers

Well, now the dust has settled has this prompted anyone to change their browser?

It has for me. I tried Chrome when it first came out but was put off by all that legal **** that they tried to slip into the user agreement.

The browser choice motivated me to try it again and I won't be going back to Firefox.

The only thing I miss from FF is the BBC News live bookmark, I used that all the time, but I'm sure it'd be possible to set something like that up in Chrome. I just need to find out how to do it.

What about the rest of you? Found anything new? TBH I had no idea things like Sliepnir even existed. They don't do a very good job of publicising themselves.

Re: Microsoft offers computer users choice of browsers

Been on Chrome for a while and love it now.
My worry with this is the fact a lot of users dont even know what a browser is so wont understand this or why its a good idea to change, they just see the E button as the Internet.

Re: Microsoft offers computer users choice of browsers

I've not had the prompt yet. I'm happy using opera so it wont change my browser of choice.

IIRC the prompt only appears if you've got IE as your default browser.
