Mobile Processors

I've had a look online for some mobile processors if I was to ever upgrade the processor on my laptop, but I can't find many anywhere.

Has anyone got any ideas where I can get them, and some links to some decent ones?

Thanks guys.

Re: Mobile Processors

Give us a clue; what laptop have you got and what processor is in it at the moment?

Re: Mobile Processors

Not too bad at the moment but it struggles a bit on multi-tasking although it has a killer Graphics card!

It's a Compaq Presario CQ62 and it has:

an AMD V120 Processor 2.2GHz
2GB of RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium
and a ATI Mobility HD Radeon 4250

Re: Mobile Processors

Ebay tends to be the only place really, upgrading laptop components like cpu isn't always advisable due to their cooling systems being designed for the specific cpus used. It's why overclocking laptops is a bad idea. Tbh, I would upgrade your memory first, your GPU i'm guessing uses shared memory.

Re: Mobile Processors

Good ol' HP/Compaq - 177 SKUs for the CQ62 with a variety of different processors, some AMD, some Intel...

As for the processor, that's the only one of that series - you may have luck with one of the dual cores but I can't guarantee anything.

Re: Mobile Processors

Yeah, I was planning on upgrading the RAM before the processor as it's a lot cheaper/easier to do.

I will ring up HP/Compaq/AMD before I bother changing the Processors just in case it does bugger up the laptop.

Thanks for the advice guys!
