PC build.

Since I'm employed, I am in the process of buying the parts and putting together my build, with my wages. It should be running by 27th of march, but only with a Nvidia GT 140, until I get Aprils wages where I can get my 5870.

Specs will be..

i7 920
Asus P6TD Deluxe
OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz)
Western Digital Caviar 500GB 32MB cache (x2)
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024MB
Zalman ZM750-HP Heatpipe Cooled 750W

Already bought the case, it's a Antec 1200.

Any comments or suggestions where I could save money and achieve the same performance would be very much appreciated.

FILL MEE!!!

Re: PC build.

Advice taken, swapped the i7, Asus P6TD & OCZ Gold for...

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz @ 3.60GHz - Retail
Asus P7P55D Intel P55 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
Zalman CNPS10X-Quiet CPU Cooler

Total for that is now 452 saving 150+ thanks Plat!

Re: PC build.

Looks like your buying a pre overclocked bundle? Overclockers by chance? just get the standard chip and do a bit of reading and clock it yourself , chances are they all do that speed as there is no way they are testing everyone to hand pick the best ones.

Re: PC build.

Yeah I did, hmm I just looked at what it would be if I didn't get a pre-OC'd bundle saving 6 pounds, question is plat am I that lazy? I'll think about that one, but thanks for the heads up! Oh changed to a Western Digital Caviar Green 640GB SATA-II 64MB Cache (x2) and have them both in RAID.

Re: PC build.

make sure you buy the

Western Digital Caviar 500GB 32MB cache Black

and not the

Western Digital Caviar 500GB 32MB cache Green

As the black are high speed ones and the green is low speed, energy saving ones. (i'm buying green for me media center )

Re: PC build.

Shame it didn't arrive a few days earlier. You could have brought it to Uttox and built it at the lan. I'm sure someone could have lent you a PSU.

Re: PC build.

Sure its not a 150? according to Nvidia a GT140 doesn't exist, if its a 150 that makes sense as that's a rebadged 9800 GTX
