They did the same with the last one didn't they?

You need to buy to be able to watch. I'd just wait, they'll mirror it on a non-pro site pretty quickly.

Looks sucky imho anyway, The Two Towers, now thats the sequel you should be looking to this year.

If "The Two Towers" is anything like the original Fellowship film as in tying closely too the book, then this should be a fantastic film.

Im still reading the two towers @ the moment and by far its the most enjoyable book. I just hope they dont stray too far from the book.

Thats one of the things I didnt like about the first one, rather than leave bits out, they change it completely. Which I dont agree with.

fellowship still owned hard and two towers is gonna hopefully be more of the same if not better! LOTR when all 3 are done should make it the film for others to be judged against

Cool /me wiv Colio

Couldnt agree more Colio! I went to see it again (2nd time) on sunday. Want to see it again, but under the influence of the Shire's finest weed to get the full impact of the film.

My biggest gripe is the same as yours Colio. I understand totally that PJ had to leave stuff out to shorten the film, but why the HELL did he have to change the scenes that he left in??

1) Mines of Moria: Its an orc cheiftain that tries to skewer Frodo, not the Cave Troll (incidentally, why didnt they show Boromir's sword clang off the troll's arm as he does in the book?! That would have been so cool and demonstrated how NAILS that monster was.

2) They changed far too much dialogue - presumably for the sub-intelligent Yank audience. Sh17 like "No-body tosses a Dwarf!" and "Let's hunt some Orc!" were just far too Yankville for my liking.

3) What happened to Glorfindell?! h3 0wN$ jO0 Arwen!

4) (PLOT SPOILER!!!) Erm - wtf is Aragorn gonna do at the beginning of the next film when he has to whip out Aduril FotW to convince the RoR that he is who he says he is?! There was NO mention of it being reforged!

Call me picky, but there u go...

Still a bloody good film

Sorry, I 4got the bit bout the cavetroll actually...

My biggest gripe, was

Arwen...I mean, comeon...the only reason she was really included in the film was to add a bit of totty to the flick.

In the first book, she has virtually fck all to do with the plot, being just a nice backdrop for Aragorn to admire.

It was Glorfindel who saves frodo from the nazgul, and it was elrond and gandalf who created the rush of water to get rid of them.

Some of the conversations the chars had, was at different points in the film than it was in the book.

for example, Gandalf and Frodo talking in the mines of moria (in the film)....they actually talk about the same things in bag end (in the book)..

Leave bits out for artistic flair/functionality/timescales ie...but dont change the story, after all thats what made it great.

well daring to go up against everyone and stick my head out.

not only I am rather hopeful for Episode II and I think it may shock you that will be rather a good film.

Okay It's not going to be best ever.

and It's not going to be a good as any of the Classic trilogy (which feels like they should not be even lumbered with being in the same saga)

but it will go a long way into restoring a little bit of credit back in the direction of Lucas, (aside from Anakin's acting ability which appears to be a little flat. (ahem very much like everyone else in Ep I)).

After watching through the teaser trailers and this main one,
and look at everyone's reaction from the original trailers,

that Love trailer had everyone saying..."OOOh no It's a soppy love story," as for the few brief scene we saw we were utterly convinced of this, bueatiful scenary all that character build up, the two kids forced be together, falling in love, realising the trouble they are in..... PLENTY of stuff to make you believe the ENTIRE plot is based round this.

Then there was MYSTERY trailer, intrigue with an assasin attacking the queen some action sequences, and everyone was "hmmm a bit pants really, average action sequences, and we spotted another Soppy love story trailer so this must be the bit to convince us there is action and there IS a plot, and this is ALL OF IT. SO this is going to bo be P-A-N-T-S".

Now the main trailer has a frickin war, and I mean fulll scale arse kicking war, plus we see the start of the jedi about to be betrayed. We have a bounty trying to get clones made, Obi-wan asking about Clones (as it looks as if our side has got some).
Then we have the Federation Droid army in the line up in that final big fight.

Watch the main trailer and THEN go back to the teasers and THEN back to the main trailer.

and tell me that there is a little more to this film,
from what I have seen everyone's acting a little bit more natural, and not flat or forced, which is a good thing.

I've seen pictures of the jedi starfight to which some eagle eyed fan in a magazine said "BUT IT'S got the imperial logo on it"
to which the reply was Episode II will change the perspective of a few things that we took for granted.
Plus it had a picture of a a character that has not appeared in the trailers yet,

so

I'm convinced,
Episode II despite the bad rep of the Ep I, will go a some way (but not fully) into restoring our faith in the Saga.

Now the only problem is Trailers are designed to look good and can be sound-byted to show anything

you couldnt drag me to go see Ep2 at a cinema.. after the first id be content never to watch a starwars again.

it was crap for a normal film, let alone something trying to build on probobly the most successful set of films of all time.

i could do no better, but if Ep1 was a show of Lucas' directing and film making abilities, then he should just quit now..

and with a title like "Attack of the Clones", christ, is he developing some brain dimishing disease? ive seen less cheesier titles born from 1960 movies.

Boba Fett would be the only reason i'll download Ep2 when its released.. and knowing Lucas, Fett will have like 10 mins screentime tops while morinic or poorly acted characters either bore us to death, or make us cringe (jar jar/anakin) for the entire film.

but, i always prefered Empire and Jedi over Hope, cos i found Hope as good as an intro for the second 2 it was, a bit dull. So ep2/3 may be better.. but ep1 was nowhere near the quality nor good intro that Hope was, it was laden with far too much cheese and utter crap.

ah cool

you'll have to excuse my lack of SW knowledge, most of it comes from the trilogy and no further, bar Jedi Knight and Dark Forces..

when i first played JK, i was a mit miffed to why Boba Fett was called a Mandalorian(sp?).. he just nicked their armour or something tho i was told? either way, it shows my utter noobness in the SW department bar the games.

yeah according to star wars mythology (pre lucas re-written with medicholrian bullsh1t).

The Mandoralins we used to exterminate the jedi, in conjunction with the Sith (of which there were many, but apparently there can only be two..........Cheers Mr G Lucas for buggering that one up)
Boba Fett, knicked the armour and a ship, off one of the mandoralins, who since we haven't really seen any of them aside from Fett (who is not really one) we can assume either the Jedi or The Emperor killed them off.

No you can probably guess that Chancellor Palpatine, who is trying to stop a separative movement against the Republic, will probably be behind it as well.
Now the Jedi (who are the guardians of the Peace) will try (to the last man standing) defend the republic, of which will probably be also be defended initially by an army of clones, (hazard a guess). and the separatists will be part of the slightly miffed remenants of the trade federation
(1. we see the droid army in the trailer
2. Having a Ep1 about trade embargo and a blockade which was a rather insubtantial and mute plot element, unless it was true grounds for something greater........people who watch the first series of babylon5 and see all the threads of the main plot will know what I mean.
Palpatine (as far as the trade federation knew) never intended for Amidalla to Leave Naboo, nor fight off the Trade Federation, he intended her to either be captured and sign the treaty, (and when she did return to naboo) die fighting against the droid army.
With an invasion force against the Naboo, a peacefull people with only a few peace keeping forces, an no real army, the situation would seam diabolical to most civilised worlds. Palpatine would probably have the Trade federation kill off any ambassadors that arrive and he still conved the TF he can make the blockade and invasion legal with two jedi on the loose, (which is daft, so lets face it them Trade Federation dudes were a bit shaky so let's assume Palpatine wasn't really interested in making the invasion a success, but rather he needed a army attacking his homeworld.
The chancellor was a weak pathetic leader who had advisors who had were in bed with the Trade federation. Palpatine can accuse the Chancellor to protecting the Trade Federation which is an aggressive force preying on peaceful worlds such as the Naboo with only a child as a leader. (Palpatine underestimates Amidala every step of the way, but then again Over confidence is his weakness).
When she turns up on his doorstep he convinces here that Chancellor Vallorum was pants, and can't be trusted and STILL convinces her to motion an vote of no confidence, even though she know it was Vallorum who sent the Jedi's and is generally all round pissed of with the democratic procedure of the republic.

At the end of the day the main result was to shame and discredit the trade federation (which would happen either way) and Chancellor Valorum, then Palpatine could slip himself into the position of Chancellor, and push down the Trade federation (after all they did just blockade and invade a planet ffs) until they break away and try to make a bid for their old place of being in-charge of the republic (which they had through Chancellor Vallorum).
You see how it works kids.

But it's just a wild random stab in the dark.

I'd bet my half life CD on it, but EpI did scar me too much and my confidence isn't too high.
