Star Wars / Endor / Ewok village / Bunker doors playset

Star Wars / Endor / Ewok village / Bunker doors play set

As some of your may recall I made a Star Wars Jabba’s Palace out of Paper-Mache (papier-mâché) last year.
(Images from Jabba’s Palace can be seen here)
But updated photos are on page2

My next project was going to be the Death Star but after a lot of planning I realised that there was a lot of problems purely down to how large it was going to be.
That project has been on temporally hold until I can fix some major problems (like stopping the dam thing from collapsing in on its self as it was too heavy)

So since last year I have been planning with Luke (our son) with regards to making new play sets.
We have come up with about 5 projects and this is the 1st of them.

This project was to make an Endor play scene from Return of the Jedi for him.
The Ewok Village has been brought and so has the bunker (the big doors)
Almost everything else has been made by hand / glued / stuck / painted etc.

While making it was doing my best to “step by step” photos to show how it was made but that was a dam hard job due to being covered in paint/glue and plaster most of the time, I will try and get these photos up after the LAN (in about 2 or 3 weeks time)

For now here is the final result.
+ Some photos with his toys (figures etc) on it.

Please note the Green looking shoe box on the right hand side (behind the bunker doors) is going to be the room in the bunker (where they planted the bombs) but its been a slow process to make that part so I have just added in a shoe box for now.

Play Set info
Size: 4ft by 2ft
Weight: Far too heavy for one person to lift with everything on it.
Cost: Still working that bit out (better not let the wife see this bit)
Planning time: around 8 weeks ish
Preparation Time: 3 weeks ish (to list and buy all the things needed)
Build time: around 8 days (flat out, around 60 hours)

(or you can see a slide show from GODump below)
Slide show of Endor
Slide show of Jabba's Palace

Enjoy.

Just like to thank Linda (Mrs Rasher)
for putting up with no having a dinning table for the last 2 weeks

Currently Linda and Jess have to lift it off the Dinning table so we can have dinner, before that we was eating "anywhere" around the house

Just as a note,
I was worried Luke (with only being 7) would break the tree (by bashing speeder bikes in to them)
So i coated them in plaster cast to
1. Make them tougher
2. Allow me to staple them down

Next Project will be either

Hoth
Or Mustafa (Lava planet)

Will post once they are up, but letting Luke decide which one is next....

BTW just checked and i have over 150 photos of the "making of Endor"
as i said before i will work on getting those photos up ASAP after the LAN.

That's fantastic mate. Where the hell do you keep it? It looks bigger than your conservatory.

at the moment its still on the dinning table,
going to be doing a massive clear out in the conservatory this weekend (which is already 80% taken up by his Star Wars)
but have some good idea on how to store them in the conservatory.

As i will be making another 4 more of these type of playsets i will be checking this weekend we can fit more in (99% sure i can do it)
Will keep you posted
