Recording in game video (FAO Kris?)

So I managed to grab some footage from a L4D session tonight, Fraps only got me 30 second bursts but thats because I didnt set it up and it was spur of the moment.

I had it set to 60FPS and the file size came out at 2.6gb...

My questions are, whats the best way to capture in game footage, at 60fps? and is there a good method of shrinking the output down whilst maintaining the frame rate and resolution?

I assume it will capture at my native res of 1440p which I am happy with.

I have a shit connection so it would take a while to upload...

Best way I have found so far is using Raptr

You can set it up, so when something happens (say like we all Teamkill ginger by mistake) you press a key (well 2) and it saves the last 30 seconds of gameplay

That's how I have been capturing the War Thunder stuff recently

Re: Recording in game video (FAO Kris?)

I tried Raptr but it wouldn't record anything when i set it up so i use DXtory it's not CPU heavy like Fraps, and after i render out at 2560x1440 i run though Handbreak to get a very small file compaired to what i was uploading (6GB to 265MB)

Re: Recording in game video (FAO Kris?)

If you have an Nvidea card then ShadowPlay is probably the easiest to get set up. Even on its lowest quality setting it still outputs HD quality. I can record 30 minutes and it comes out as a 2GB file.

Although, as we found out tonight, sometimes it doesn't play nicely with games.

Re: Recording in game video (FAO Kris?)

In the past I've used Fraps to record and Xvid to compress the file after.

Re: Recording in game video (FAO Kris?)

You can use Fraps, you just need to tweak the settings around a lot. I'm busy atm, but will try and find a guide for you.
