How do Games Tell a Story

I've always loved video games, and I play them primarily for the story. My turning point was Suikoden 1: after playing it, I realized stories in video games can be as rich as Suikoden's. Characters can have many shades and the story can be marked by major tangential points that drive an overarching plot forward.

This article is an introspection on how storytelling is done when it comes to video games; how it works and how it manages to deliver compelling tales.
Series X and Switch gamer.
