Rover 214 problem

anyone know how to open the boot on one of these things, only got it today and discovered the boot wont open, tried using the key incase it doesnt work with the central locking but it doesnt turn and pushing the button in doesnt work either. Any help on what the problem is would be great )

Is it a Rover 214 Before or after M ish Reg
If its M or before there should be a boot release button on the right hand side of the drivers chair somewhere.
