Burton Seating Plan (May) Part 1

Please post on here - any changes that need to happen
Rather than e-mail/irc/ICQ - (its easyer to do it at once)

We have seated everyone in to groups
so just sort out between your selfs where in the group you want to sit.

If your in the group "NG" this stands for "No Group"
if you want to be seated with your m8s please post on here what group you want to be part of.

(names in groups are listed to the right of the seating plan)

This plan isnt being used any more - please see Part 2

Why is file sharing disabled? also, are we allowed http/ftp servers to share files?

I need to know for the lan this weekend in burton, thanks

As far as I am aware there are several reasons why file sharing is banned.
1, It causes LAG. Example. You leave file sharing on. You are playing a Game. Somone comes in and grabs that 1gig d/l off you. It causes your machine to LAG out

. Not good.
2, It prevents the sharing of software that is not ment to be shared. IE no warez.
3, There has been several occurances of people turning up to the LAN that do not have a virus checker. You would be surprised how quickly a virus can be passed round. hmmm Monkeyboy and having to do a low level format rings a bell.
4, I have found many a time people leaving their whole drive sharred on thier pc. This then can be very dangerous cant it

. I mean who would go in and put silly named folders on your desktop.

There is a Patch server with all the latest patches/mods/demos/maps for almost any game you can mention. All have been checked for viruses and at a fast d/l.

I hope that answers your questions. No to file sharing basically.

and transfer speeds restricted to, so it wont cause lag

File sharing is something that has been banned to help get sponsors - sponsors are not going to come with people sharing their software across the network - using our network to send it.
If you have some files your m8s there isn’t a prob just setting up a password share
and sorry no FTP's we run a patch server with all the latest patches on so most the things you need will be on there.

At the end of the day as it says in the e-mail this is to help the future of LANs

As note to Group's
its not me doing the seating this time around
cause i am away a lot sortting out new venues
The group system is what sits you next to your m8s
its not easy to move a group to sit next to a group
hence why we say make a group with "WHO" you want to sit next to - a group isnt the same as a clan seating - you dont have to be in the same clan to be in same group

If you could keep me and Skully at the bottom but more other side of room from chromeksull to the top left so there have about 2 tables inbetween use please

Also there are 2 n00bs there so feel free 2 kill them a few time

Eddeh (2 the opposite side of room from chromeskull group)

P.s. Where about is the food here. Also can we get te luxury chairs or is it first come, first pinched type of system.
